Exploring Heritage: The Third Human Library Walking Tour in Olmi-Cappella (Corsica)
Following the successful Human Library event on May 9th at A Tornadia, part of the European Human Library/Erasmus+ Project, four enthusiastic youngsters—Agata, Alice, Dea, and Laura—organized a third Human Library in the form of a walking tour through the village of Olmi-Cappella.
The journey began in Khava’s biodynamic garden, a harmonious blend of traditional and modern practices. Khava shared her extensive knowledge of natural chemistry and the joys of cultivating one's land, passionately passing on the wisdom she had accumulated over the years.
The next stop was the collective bread oven, where Jean Saladini awaited. Jean explained the vital role of the bread oven in village life, where families took turns using the communal oven to bake bread from local resources like wood, wheat, and family sourdough. This practice fostered a strong sense of community and continuity.
The tour concluded at the church, where Antone Casanova discussed the significance of the church bells, which are central to the identity and life of Pioggiola. He highlighted the upcoming special event on July 20th, 2024, when a new bell, tuned to the note "B," will be cast in the Church Place.
Additionally, Charlène Colombani shared her insights on "The Relationship with the Corsican Language," a reflection that can be enjoyed as an audiobook.
These stories, along with others, will be available as audiobooks on Spotify through the podcast "Memoria per l’Avvene," created for the European Human Library/Erasmus+ Project. The podcast aims to preserve and promote the valley's intangible heritage, featuring:

"The Community Bread Oven or the Art of Making Bread in the Village" by Jean Saladini.
"The Bells and the Campanari" by Antone Casanova.
